Wetumpka Police were called to the Lowe’s store around noon today, after a report that a man threatened to shoot another customer.

William Pressley, 55, of Tallassee was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, but he was not found to be in a possession of a gun.

“We had a guy (Pressley) in there that was concerned about the 6-foot rule, and felt another man was in his space and standing too close to him. The other man apparently laughed at (Pressley) who then reportedly said he would shoot him. But, Presley didn’t have a gun. We did arrest him for Disorderly
Conduct however,” said Assistant Wetumpka Police Chief Ed Reeves.

Reeves said he understands that times are stressful, and COVID-19 is very real, but if anyone has concerns about distancing, there are better ways to handle the situation.

“That is certainly not the way to handle it,” Reeves said. “Move yourself and make sure you have your six-foot distance if it is that important.”

No shots were fired, and no one was injured in the incident.
