Central Alabama Aging Consortium to hold Annual May Fest Celebration May 2

From the Central Alabama

Aging Consortium

Central Alabama Aging Consortium, in association with their Elite sponsor ArchWell Health, holds its keynote event of the year on Friday, May 2 at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery at 1555 Federal Drive, 9am-1pm.

The event, Mayfest 2025, is an annual party for senior citizens living in Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery Counties.  Mayfest celebrates May as Older Americans Month and commemorates the first senior citizen social legislation, the Older Americans Act, passed in 1965. This is the 60th anniversary of Older Americans month so this year’s Mayfest will be extra special.

ArchWell Health is the elite sponsor of the event. More than 500 seniors are expected from the tri-county area. Seniors who have reserved spots will be admitted to the event. Sorry but there is no more room for additional seniors who have not made prior reservations.

This year’s theme for Mayfest is the Derby in honor of the upcoming Kentucky Derby.  Our seniors will get to “bet” on our own special horse race with a variety of distinctly named nags, including Sir CAAC-a lot. There will be all sorts of activities, including the event’s longtime DJ, Preston providing music to dance to. There will be fun games, great snacks, lunch, LOTS of giveaways and door prizes.

More than 35 Exhibitors and Sponsors will provide information and goody bags to seniors. Corporate sponsors include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, the Alabama Office of Minority Affairs and Tuscaloosa Supply Company, Inc.
