Notary Public Requirements are Changing in Alabama Effective September 1

The Alabama legislature recently revised Alabama’s laws relating to the appointment of the notaries public and the notary public office. These changes become effective on September 1, 2023.

Included here is a summary of the significant changes within in the revised Notary Public Act. All currently serving notaries public are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these changes.

The Alabama Probate Judges Association’s Internet website has information about these changes, the new application form to be utilized and the new training program. The address for the website is https://alpja.org
