Central Alabama Community College Celebrates Student Athletes’ Success

ALEXANDER CITY, AL – May 26, 2023 – Central Alabama Community College (CACC) proudly announces that 14 student-athletes have signed baseball and academic scholarships to continue their education and athletic careers at four-year institutions next year. Additionally, two talented players are eligible for the upcoming Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.

The following student-athletes have committed to their respective schools:

· Anthony Patterson and Bryce Calloway secured full-ride scholarships to the University of New Orleans (UNO). Patterson and Calloway have also demonstrated their extraordinary skills in recent MLB workouts, positioning them as eligible participants in the MLB Draft scheduled for July.

· Davis Gaston has accepted a 75% scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM), while Sam Smith has secured a full-ride scholarship to the same institution.

· Zion Morris has committed to Mississippi Valley State with an 85% scholarship, and Zak Rice to Alabama A&M with an 80% scholarship.

· Luke Hasty has received a full-ride scholarship to Columbus State.

· Ryan Slaten and Hayden Grier have accepted scholarships to Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) at 80% and 60%, respectively.

· Josh Beck has committed to Florida Tech with an 85% scholarship.

· Cole Johnson and Gage Rowe each accepted 50% scholarships to Point University. Caden Hare has received an offer from Point University.

· Ethan Hamilton has accepted a 50% scholarship to Virginia Military Institute (VWI). Ethan aspires to become a navy seal.

President Jeff Lynn expressed his pride in the students’ achievements: “These young men have shown exceptional dedication both on the field and in the classroom. Their success reflects their hard work, and we are very proud of their accomplishments.”

Head Baseball Coach Larry Thomas echoed these sentiments: “Our program is committed to developing great athletes and well-rounded individuals. These 14 players have demonstrated their commitment to their education and sport, and we are excited to see what the future holds for them.”
