Partridge Awarded Melvin Jones Fellowship, Milestone Chevron Award from Prattville Lions

FROM THE PRATTVILLE LIONS CLUB AND EAN STAFF REPORTS

Prattville resident George Partridge was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award by the Prattville Lions Club.

Partridge also received his 30-year membership Milestone Chevron Award.

A Melvin Jones Fellowship is the highest honor given by the Lions Club International Foundation and is presented in recognition of humanitarian work and qualities such as generosity, compassion and concern for the less fortunate.

It is named for Melvin Jones, the Founder of Lions Clubs International.

Partridge was recently hospitalized with pneumonia. He is now recovering at home, where he was visited by his fellow Lions who presented this honor to him.

Partridge will turn 88 in October and is a legend in Prattville where he calls home. He served as a Fighter Pilot with the Airforce and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He had more than 5,000 hours of flying military aircraft, and another 1,000 hours of personal time. He was inducted into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame and that award was for Valor in combat in Vietnam.

He is the author of “My Story…And I’m Sticking To It – I think!”

Partridge is a faithful Christian and a Patriot. For many years Partridge organized a display of military uniforms from precolonial up to modern times for Memorial Day events.

Congratulations to Mr. Partridge. You are truly a treasure for all of us in this area.
