Correction Deputy Keith Dennis Retires After 29 Years with Autauga County Sheriff’s Office

From Autauga County Sheriff’s Office

On Friday afternoon we congratulated Correction Deputy Keith Dennis on his retirement. Dennis has been working for the Autauga County Sheriff’s Officers a long time…29 years to be exact. He was hired in March 1991 after Sheriff Herbie Johnson took office in January.

Dennis was a jailer and dispatcher in the old jail that was located on the 2nd floor of the Sheriff’s Office, until the current jail was built. He said back then they had maybe 30 inmates. He has outlasted 4 of the 5 Jail Wardens he has worked for over the 29 years, and worked in two different jail buildings, as well as under two Sheriffs.

Dennis said over his career he has probably booked in 10,000 inmates. He is the first Correction Deputy Autauga County has had to retire. We wish him the best in his next adventure and we hope he enjoys his retirement. You will be missed!
