Man Arrested after Police Pursuit in Elmore County Monday Identified as Emmett Wallace of Coosada

Emmett Grady Wallace, 35, of Coosada was arrested Monday night after a pursuit involving Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Troopers began in Hwy. 143 near Elmore Grocery. He remains in Elmore County Jail, awaiting bond.

His charges include DUI, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Reckless Endangerment and Attempting to Elude.

A passenger in the vehicle was not identified, and not charged or booked into the Elmore County Jail with Wallace. That passenger actually bailed out of the car during the pursuit. He reportedly received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by a Trooper.

It began Monday evening as ALEA officers attempted to stop Wallace’s vehicle for a traffic citation. However, officials say Wallace then left the scene, with Troopers in pursuit.

The suspect vehicle was a white Ford Ranger reportedly driven by Wallace that fled the scene, turning on Jackson, but a train was across the track. The vehicle then made a U-turn on Jackson, a left on Hwy. 143, then a right on 1st Avenue with Troopers in pursuit.

Other area law enforcement also joined in the chase.

The pursuit continued to Pine Leaf where the suspect vehicle made a left, a right on Baltzer, a right on Flatwood and another right on Mehearg. The chase continued when the suspect made a right on Hwy. 14, a right on Fitzpatrick, a right on Baltzer, a right on Pineleaf at which point a passenger in the vehicle bailed rolling onto the ground on Politic Road. The passenger reportedly suffered minor injuries. The passenger was transported to Elmore Community Hospital by a trooper. The suspect vehicle was a White Ford Ranger, and the chase continued until the truck wrecked on Politic Road near Friendly Pines Road.
