Bicyclist Struck and Killed on AL 170 Near Wetumpka This Morning Identified as John F. Jenkins of Montgomery

WETUMPKA — A single-vehicle crash at 5:53 a.m. today, Apr. 9, has claimed the life of a bicyclist.  John F. Jenkins, 49, of Montgomery was struck by a 2016 Jeep Compass while he was cycling in the roadway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 170 near mile marker 3, approximately one mile north of Wetumpka. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene. Nothing further is available as ALEA State Troopers continue to investigate.
