Millbrook Council President Michael Gay is reaching out to the Millbrook area, asking for help in this time of need among clients of WELCOME Food Pantry.

President Gay said, “We need to all rise up to help on this. WELCOME, our local food bank that assists the needy in our community, is in desperate need of help. If you have extra food you will never use, please donate it to them. Also, monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Millbrook strong! All in together!”

Monetary donations right now are perhaps the easiest and best, as most people are trying to stay at home in light of COVID-19. WELCOME is able to turn even a small donation into a large amount of food through their partnership with the Montgomery Food Bank and other agencies.

Help Us Soar

Want to join our efforts in providing for those in need in our community, but not sure where to start? Your Donation will ensure that the Welcome Food Pantry has the necessary resources to provide for those in need.    It’s a great way to provide a helping hand, and every little bit counts towards paving the path for a better tomorrow.

WELCOME Pantry Coronavirus Protection

For the protection of our Clients and our Volunteers we have implemented the following procedures.  The last thing we want to do is stop supplying our clients with their much-needed food!

For now, we no longer allow our Clients to come in and gather in the waiting room while waiting for food.

When you drive up to the WELCOME Center, there will be a volunteer to greet you at your car.  He/She will place a number on your car windshield and hand you a duplicate number that you will take into the center when you sign in.

For your safety, we request no more than 2 clients inside at a time.  You will sign in and a volunteer will pull your files and have you sign for the food you are to receive.  At that time, please return to your car while we pull your food.  Another volunteer will then deliver the food to your car.

Please understand that this process will take a little longer but this is being done for your own protection. If you have special concerns and want us to Pray with you, please let us know! We will gladly lift up prayers together!”

WELCOME posted the following on their Facebook page this week:

To Our WELCOME Family & Friends

The WELCOME Food Pantry continues to stay open to serve our community, Thursdays, 8am – 2 pm. Our volunteers are doing all we can to be able to SAFELY distribute food to the needy of our community as well as those laid off without pay.

With this said, we need everyone’s help. Our food donations of which account for about 45% of the food we give out has basically dried up. We will very soon have to buy most of the food we give out. We will do that thru the Montgomery Area Food Bank as long as possible as that is our best source of food and our best cost on food.

We are asking that you communicate our needs to your church, thru your pastor, and ask your church to help where possible. We know with most of them not having in church services and they have their needs also, but churches have always been the back bone of our support, and we need it now more than ever. Please communicate with them ASAP.

Any help from individuals as well as from churches and business will be appreciated.
