Colonel (Ret) Dale Bain Announces His Run For ECBOE For 2020

I am announcing that I will be seeking another term on the Elmore County Board of Education for District #1 Millbrook.  In doing so, I would like to address the Elmore County Board of Education’s major accomplishment during my last term as your representative.  We have made major strides in Policy Revisions, Property Expansion, Facilities upgrades, and major Student Achievement goals.  I will continue to push for major rises in all of these categories.

Several Policy revisions to better serve ALL students.

Property purchased at several Elmore County schools for room to grow.

Completely new Elmore County Career and Technical Center.

            Facilities Upgrades:

SEHS -remodeling existing facilities, New interior hallways for more light, more security, more space.  Major new renovations within the next 2-years.

CES – Expanding for more off-road space for vehicle traffic and new additions.

ARIS – New wing of classrooms on drawing board.

MMS – Remodeling inside, driveways completely resurfaced and more parking.

RMS – New School for Redland Middle School

I would also like to report major up-turn on student achievement data.  This is my number one goal.  During the last 5-years we saw the following:

Elmore County Schools up 6-Points on the State Report Card.

SEHS Average ACT Scores went from 18.0 to 18.9 compared to state    overall – 18.1.  SEHS ranks 97thout of 362 Alabama High Schools, and ranked better than 73.2% of high schools in Alabama. SEHS Scholarship funds for the year 2018-19 was: $7,171,156.00  Graduation rate has gone from 86% in 2010 to 96% for 2019.

Millbrook Middle School (MMS) – Ranked 94thout of 432 Middle Schools.  In 2019 MMS ranked better than 78.2% of middle schools in Alabama.  It also ranked 2ndamong 4 ranked middle schools in Elmore County.

Airport Road Intermediate School (ARIS) – Ranked 247thout of 675 Alabama Intermediate Schools.

With the new Alabama Literacy Law, we will strive to meet these standards just as soon as possible.  We have a lot of work to do, and I hope to be helping in doing this work for ALL of our Elmore County Schools during the next 6-years.  Thank you so much for your support.

Col (Ret) Dolas (Dale) Bain.
