Autauga Prattville Public Library Brings Story Time to Chick-fil-A

The Autauga Prattville Public Library holds many events for all ages. One of the favorites for the younger ones is “story time”, which is an hour-long period of fun where Barbara Curry, the Youth Services Librarian, reads to children ages 3-5.

Typically, story times are held at the Autauga Prattville Public Library every Tuesday at 10 AM and 4 PM, but for the past year and half, the APPL has decided to branch out and hold the event at more than just their central location.

Now, every third Wednesday of the month, story times are also held at the Chick-fil-A in Prattville.

Jennifer Harrison, Marketing Director for the Prattville Chick-fil-A, says that the partnership with the APPL has been a great one so far.

“We noticed all the events that the public library puts on, and we decided that we wanted to be a part of that too. Other Chick-fil-A’s hold events like this, so we decided, why not us too?”, Harrison said.

“The relationship that we’ve built with the APPL over the past year and a half has been great and we look forward to continuing these children’s readings in the future,” Harrison said.

In today’s edition of story time, Curry read two different books – The Snowmen at Work and the Magical Snow Garden. The stories, for the most part, are very entertaining for the kids.

However, it’s Curry’s monkey puppet, Chester, who really steals the show. Chester sits in Curry’s bag and always introduces himself to the audience before listening to the story as well. Most of the kids can’t keep their hands off him, and who could blame them? Chester exudes the collective coolness of a young John Stamos and handles his business in such a professional way!

After reading the two books to the audience, Curry brought Chester back out of bag and let him show the kids what craft they would be doing that day. Chester showed his lovely artwork of colorful flowers and snow, which the kids then tried to mimic as they sat down at their crafting tables.

Ultimately, it was another successful edition of story time at Chick-fil-A, and it was obvious by the crowd’s reactions that they were ready for the next meeting with Mrs. Curry and Chester the Monkey.
