The Coosa Candy Crawl was crawling with little ghouls, goblins and more. The event was about spreading a little spooky season fun and Halloween joy a little early, where the City of Wetumpka hosted the 4th annual Coosa Candy Crawl.

The spooktacular event kicked off in a new location this year at the  Wetumpka Sports Complex, where bounce houses, face painting and fun started at 4 p.m., and the candy crawl taking place from 6-8 p.m.

Children made their way from table to table set up in the parking lot behind the stadium at the complex. The collected sweet treats and other goodies from the sponsors that participated.

The last three years, the Candy Crawl has taken place in historic downtown Wetumpka. However, with the large crowd, the event outgrew the small venue that downtown has to offer.

“This is an event that the city started several years ago, and it’s been ongoing. It has changed hands a couple of times with Main Street. But it was so big in the downtown area, downtown really couldn’t hold the people. It’s been such a great event, and the city took it back over and they decided ‘hey, we’re going to move it out here to the Sports Complex.’ There’s plenty of room and as you can see, it’s early out here today, but it’s already filling up with people. This is just a great event for the community,” longtime Elmore County resident and local business owner of Zap Pest Control Frank Bertarelli said.

The spellbinding night of Halloween fun had a little something for everyone. Adults and children alike flocked to the Wetumpka Sports Complex for face painting, spooky coloring, trick or treating from participating sponsors and community members, as well has several bounce houses and slides

“It’s just a wonderful event and I’m glad to see people out here. What’s good about these events is that you run across old friends you haven’t seen in a longtime, you see kids that you saw many years ago growing up, and then sometimes what’s great about it, you see the same kids over and over and they remember you for the things you do,” Bertarelli said with a smile.

The boo-tiful costumes of countless characters from princesses, to spiderman, to Auburn Cheerleaders, first responders and even a banana were seen.  The bounce houses made for spooktacular memories, and the start of the Candy Crawl tradition at the Wetumpka Sports Complex
