The 11th annual Great Grit Cook-off took place this morning at the Bradford YMCA, bringing together food lovers, families, and fitness enthusiasts for a fun-filled day of activities. Sponsored by Gipson Tire Pro, the event featured a variety of contests and performances, celebrating both local talent and culinary skill.
The day kicked off with the Nitty Gritty 5K, followed by a lively performance from country singer Jesse Lynn.
“It’s been a great day with a great crowd. The Lord blessed us with some amazing weather,” said Keith Cantrell, Assistant General Director of the YMCA.
In addition to the races and entertainment, attendees were treated to a special grit cooking demonstration by Stacey Little of Southern Bite, where participants learned the art of crafting this Southern staple. The Zumba Zistas also took to the stage, energizing the crowd with their dance moves.
The event concluded with the much-anticipated Grit Cook-off, where local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups showcased their best grit dishes. The competition was fierce, but only a few took home the top prizes.
