The Autauga County 4-H Homeschool Club officially kicked off its new year with a fun-filled event this morning, bringing together a group of eager homeschoolers ready to explore the outdoors and dive into new experiences. The children, excited to start the year, enjoyed a walk in the park as they got to know one another and discussed the exciting program opportunities awaiting them this year.

After a refreshing snack and water break, the Central Alabama Search and Rescue K9 Unit made a special appearance. The Manns from the unit shared valuable tips on staying safe in the woods and provided guidance on how children can assist rescue teams if they ever find themselves lost. Parents also received important safety information.

One of the day’s highlights was a live K9 search demonstration. The kids hid behind a large dirt hill, and the search dog quickly located the group, much to everyone’s delight. The K9 performed flawlessly and won over the children with her sweet demeanor afterward.

“A huge thank you to the Search and Rescue team for joining us today, and to our awesome volunteers who help wherever they’re needed! Here’s to a fantastic year ahead! the 4-H Club shared on their Facebook page, celebrating the success of the event.

With such a strong start, the Autauga County 4-H Homeschool Club is looking forward to an exciting and enriching year ahead!
