Video captures assault on Autauga County School Bus; one in custody

On Friday evening, 10/11/2024 The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office was informed by the Autauga County Board of Education and the Prattville Baptist Emergency room in reference to an altercation on a school bus. Upon further investigation it was determined that there were two aggressors in the altercation, an 18-year-old male and a 14-year-old female that caused injury to another 14-year-old female.

Today, the 18-year-old male Antarion Brandon Miles was arrested for Assault 3rd for the incident that took place. This is an ongoing investigation and may include more charges on other individuals. The incident was videoed by individuals on the bus along with the bus surveillance system. The video showed the victim did not provoke this brutal incident.

The board of education and the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate any incident causing disruption in Autauga County Schools nor on a school bus. The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the Autauga County Board of Education with assistance in this investigation. No other information will be released at this time due to it being an on-going investigation and juveniles being involved.

Autauga County Superintendent Lyman Woodfin offered a statement relating to this incident.

“Last Friday Autauga County Schools was made aware of an incident that occurred on one of our school buses. The district immediately notified the Sheriff’s Department and worked cooperatively with our law enforcement partners throughout the process. While school officials cannot comment on active investigations, student safety has been, and will continue to be, our first priority.”
