The Millbrook Chamber of Commerce celebrates 30 years of service this week. Where the Chamber has gone through extensive growth over the decades.
With that growth, the Chamber and staff have adapted and thrived all because of the unwavering support and dedication of their members and the Millbrook community.
As the third decade of service comes to a close, the Chamber will be hosting the first ever ambassador retreat, Chamber President and CEO, Brenda Dennis confirms.
“This Chamber has really developed, especially this year with our accreditation through the State Chambers of Commerce, which was a huge deal. We have a lot to be proud of,” Dennis said.
By earning the accreditation from Alabama Chambers, this shows a chamber’s dedication to improving, reviewing and promoting strong business practices as well as recognizing leadership and outstanding contributions to the community.
To become an accredited chamber, there are qualifications, policies, standards and procedures that must be followed in order to be eligible. Such as, having front of house, back of house, business and financials in order, writing a procedures manual and providing proof of bylaws operating as they should, Dennis confirmed.
“Since Brenda Dennis has been there, she’s always on top of everything. She knows what’s going on. The board of directors do a tremendous job at keeping up with everything and I love their ambassador program that they have, they really help out a lot in the city. I just appreciate what they do,” Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley said.
However, Dennis attributed much of their success even before she was a part of the Millbrook Chamber, to the Millbrook community.
“I want to stress that every single person that has had their finger in this chamber over the years has shaped it and has enhanced it in their own way. If it weren’t for people 10, 15, 30 years ago that hadn’t done what they did, we wouldn’t be where we are. So, I think that we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be,” Dennis said.
