The City of Prattville will host their 20th annual Mardi Gras celebration on February 3rd, with food, vendors and crafts starting as early as 11 a.m. The parade will roll at 2 p.m. from Court and Fourth Street near the Autauga County Courthouse.
This year there will be food, arts and crafts and specialty vendors in two separate locations, manager of cultural arts and special events Barbara Simpson confirmed. One location will be at the Partners in Pediatrics parking lot on Main Street and the other location for vendors will be at the Spillway Park on Court Street.
“I love vendors and to try the different types of food. It is fund to see the different kinds of things that what the artists come up with like the specialty items. But I also just love parades. It’s so fun to see what people come up with to decorate their floats and their cars,” Simpson said.
Simpson also confirmed that Prattville resident Jeremy Pyles will be the Grand Marshal for the Mardi Gras parade. Simpson said that Pyles is incredibly integrated into the community. She stated that Pyles not only emcees around Prattville, he has also done children’s workshops with the Cultural Arts Center. He provides support for the Prattville community in many ways.
“He does so much in and for the city of Prattville, and he’s just an all-around great guy. He’s fun, sweet and he gives back to his community all the time,” Simpson said.
On top of that, Pyles leads in the community by dividing his time as the Prattville Community Chorus Director, Music Ministries at Prattville First Methodist Church Director, chairman of Distinguished Young Women of Autauga County, and was named by the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce’s as a Top 20 Under 40.
“It’s going to be a fun day! A lot of fun is going on before the parade and after the parade so people can stay and enjoy downtown Prattville,” Simpson said.
The good times will be rolling behind Pyles as he leads the Prattville Mardi Gras parade at
2 p.m, Saturday February 3rd so make plans to attend!
