Summer is right around the corner, and you would think it’s already here as temperatures are expected to sky-rocket next week.
With the hot weather comes different events, and the City of Prattville is gearing up to host a plethora of them.
This week, the city confirmed that they will be hosting their annual Independence Day parade on July 3rd at 9 a.m. in downtown Prattville. The event was cancelled last year due to covid concerns.
The Lions Club will also have their annual Barbeque fundraiser on July 3rd from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Pratt Park.
The city’s fireworks show will take place the next day, July 4th, at the Homeplace Clocktower at dark.
There are a few events that will not, or may not, be taking place this summer.
Barbara Simpson, special events coordinator with the City of Prattville, confirmed that the YMCA Sink-A-Palooza event is cancelled for 2021. The event, which allows competitors to make their own boat out of materials and race for prizes, typically takes place at the Pratt Pool.
Touch-A-Truck and the Mayor’s Bike Ride will also not take place this May, but Simpson says that the city is hopeful in moving those events to National Day of Play in September.
The Prattville/Autauga Humane confirmed this week their Pet-Palooza event is still up in the air for 2021. The event was also cancelled in 2020 due to covid concerns.
