MONTGOMERY POST – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m. Sunday, April 28, has claimed the life of a Verbena man. Phillip L. Williams, 41, was fatally injured when the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas he was driving struck the rear-end of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Kayla T. Montgomery, 35, of Jemison. After the initial collision, the Volkswagen partially left the roadway and overturned. Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on U.S. 31 near the 208-mile marker, approximately three miles south of Verbena, in Chilton County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
