National Merit Program Recognizes Prattville High School Student Amelia Cantwell

Amelia Cantwell has been named a Finalist in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Amelia is one of approximately 15,000 finalists in the 68th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This academically talented high school senior has an opportunity to receive one of 7,140 Nation Merit Scholarships that will be offered this spring. To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, Amelia fulfilled several requirements to advance to the finalist level of competition. More than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship. 

Amelia is a senior at Prattville High School.  She competes on the Cross Country and Track teams and is a member of the Speech and Debate and Science Olympiad teams.  She is a member of the Beta Club and the National Honor Society.  Amelia is an AP Scholar with Distinction and was a member of Girls State.  Amelia’s father is a Brigadier General in the Air Force and they were stationed in Sicily, Italy for her 9th and 10th grades.  While attending Sigonella High School, Amelia was a member of the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and earned a Certificate of Merit in Italian.  Amelia would like to attend either Duke or Princeton and study mathematics.
