A TRIBUTE TO VETERANS: November 11, 2023

Join the DAC Foundation on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church for the Annual Elmore County Tribute to Veterans. The “Gallery of Honor” exhibit will open at 4:00 pm and will include a DAC Foundation display featuring ten oversized storyboards about the history of Veterans Day and Dixie Art Colony co-founder Kelly Fitzpatrick’s service in World War I. The exhibit will also include a collection of artwork by DAC artist Arthur Walter Stewart, II, who served as an illustrator for the U.S. Army in WWII.

The year’s honorees will be James Owen Dozier and Carl Edwards, both of Elmore, Alabama. Dozier, age 98, retired as a Sergeant First Class after serving in the U.S. Army. Edwards, age 99, retired as an AF E7 from the Air Force and a Chief Quartermaster from the Navy.

The Concert will begin at 6:30 pm and feature the Christian Community Band and other local musicians. Guests can also view the exhibit at the reception following the Concert. Trinity Episcopal Church is located across from McDonalds at 5375 US Highway 231 in Wetumpka, Alabama.
