Three Generations of Mercer family have 410-Mile Sea-Doo Adventure from Wetumpka to Gulf Shores

SUBMITTED BY BART MERCER

A few months ago, David and Chad Mercer finished a Sea-Doo ride on Lake Jordan and began talking about how fun it would be to plan a family ride down the Coosa River with an ultimate destination of Gulf Shores. After months of planning that trip happened recently making the dream a reality.

Joined by numerous friends and family, three generations of the Mercer family including David, Cameron, Chad, and Owen Mercer, launched four Sea-Doos in the Coosa River at Gold Star Park in Wetumpka at daybreak on Friday September 22, 2023. This started a 410-mile journey down the Coosa River that collectively took 17 hours and ended in Gulf Shores the next day around noon.

Following the path were two support vehicles manned by Bart Mercer and Jordan Roberts bringing supplies that provided more than 450 gallons of fuel, food, water, and good conversation at four short stops along the riverbank. The trip took weeks of planning and hard work, but it allowed for an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Coosa River and a family experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.
