A Deatsville man is in custody after Millbrook Police attempted to stop him on Hwy. 14 this afternoon around 5:40 P.M. The suspect now in custody was identified as Patrick Ivey, 23, of Deatsville according to officials. Ivey was wanted by the Millbrook Police for questioning related to a reported unauthorized use of a vehicle Friday from the Kwik Shop on Hwy. 14 and Grandview Road. He was also wanted on three outstanding warrants for failure to appear in Millbrook Municipal Court.

Simultaneously, the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office was also seeking Ivey related to a reported home invasion on Willow Crest Drive, Wetumpka, involving a reported assault case in Wetumpka Saturday. Though the incident occurred at a Wetumpka address, the residence is located within the Elmore sheriff’s jurisdiction.

“We gathered intelligence on Ivey’s whereabouts, and learned he was on Hwy. 14 coming out of Prattville,” Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson told the EAN. “As our officer got behind the suspect and turned on his lights, the suspect immediately accelerated and struck the back of another vehicle at Hwy. 14 and I-65. The person in the vehicle hit from behind was not injured. Ivey’s car (the one involved in the unauthorized use) was turned upside down. He was checked at the scene by Millbrook paramedics and again later at the Elmore County Hospital.  He was medically cleared and taken to the Elmore County Jail where he remains under a bond of $4,500 at this time.”

Johnson said current Millbrook charges are three counts of failure to appear in Millbrook Municipal court, attempting to elude and two counts of reckless endangerment.

These charges do not relate to the separate investigation by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office relating to the reported home invasion and assault in Wetumpka.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin, Ivey is currently being questioned about the home invasion and assault report. He has not been charged at this time relating to that investigation. We will update when more information is available from Sheriff Franklin.
