Becoming a national television anchor is the dream of many little girls but one little girl with ties to Prattville grew up to make it a reality.

Washington, D.C.-based talk show co-host Lyndsay Keith, with Newsmax, is part one of the fastest-growing news networks in the country. She once lived in Prattville and said the city holds a special place in her upbringing.

Keith is a television anchor and co-host of Newsmax TV’s news talk show Spicer & Co. with former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. She came onboard during March 2020 when the show premiered during the Corona virus pandemic.

“That was a really interesting time to start my job with everything shut down,” Keith  said. She said she still had to come to the studio every day to do the show.  Next week will be her two-year anniversary on the job.

Keith said she met Spicer about four years ago while helping him with the presidential debate and he helped her get a job with the Convention. She later auditioned for the Newsmax job without knowing who her co-host would be and was pleasantly surprised to find it would be Spicer.

“Sean and I have a good working chemistry,” she said. “He’s a pro when it comes to politics and has seen things from every angle. He has become a good friend who challenges me in so many ways.”

The show airs weekdays at 6 p.m. Eastern on Newsmax TV. Spicer and Keith provide the inside story from Washington, D.C.’s insiders and power brokers.

The 35-year-old has already held other notable and interesting positions. She worked on the brand marketing team for Google and said it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. “It was an honor to be challenged every day,” Keith said. “It was like working for a well-oiled machine.”

She started her career working as an anchor for Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN)’s debut daily sports and faith show called Game On. She later worked at Google and was deputy communications director for the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Keith, a conservative and a Christian, has taken important positions for Republican candidates and the RNC. In 2012, she was the Advance Press Lead for the Romney for President campaign.

Keith was a “military brat” whose father was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base four times. She was home schooled while living in Prattville. She also spent several summers there while home from graduate school at Liberty University where she was getting her master’s degree in media communication. Her brothers attended Autauga Academy. Her father is a retired United States Air Force chaplain.

Keith said she has moved 23 times and that it has helped her understand people from different backgrounds. “It shaped my world view,” she said. “I’ve learned how things are run in many different ways and it has helped me engage with people more.

“I grew up in a Christian family,” Keith said. “I learned that you bloom wherever you are planted. I tried to engage wherever God put us. I try to stay strong and true to who I am and never hide it.”

She said her faith keeps her grounded and every where she has lived, she has been able to find a good Christian community to join.

Keith said Prattville was one of her favorite places to live and likes to revisit the city whenever possible. “In my life, I spent more cumulative time in Prattville than anywhere else I have lived,” she said. “When I think of my childhood, I think of Prattville.”
