Millbrook Resident Dies after Single-Vehicle Accident on Springdale Road Thursday

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, at approximately 1:30 PM, Millbrook police and fire rescue units responded to the 4700 block of Springdale Road with regard to a report of a single vehicle traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle which had left the roadway, running through a fence line, coming to rest in a pasture, south of the eastbound traffic lane.

The vehicle’s lone occupant was unconscious and non-responsive. Responding officers administered CPR and were later relieved by fire rescue personnel. The victim, a 77-year-old Millbrook resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene was turned over to the department’s Traffic Homicide Unit.

These are the calls that no law enforcement officer ever wants to respond to. Based on our preliminary investigation, our traffic investigators believe that the victim, who has a history of health issues, suffered a heart attack, which caused him to veer off the roadway, collide with the fence, prior to coming to rest in the pasture. There were no apparent signs of trauma or physical injury visible on the victim’s person.

I appreciate and commend our officers and medics, who began life saving efforts immediately upon their arrival. I know they made every effort to do what they could to assist the victim. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family.
