The Rex Food Truck Venue and Bar will celebrate their long-awaited Grand Opening in Millbrook Oct. 23.
Owners announced the official date recently saying, “We are SO EXCITED to announce OCTOBER 23rd is our opening date! We are ready to serve up your favorite ice cold craft beer and wine, along with some dang good food trucks each night! The Rex is fenced in, with an awesome playground for your littles to play; so you can kick back, relax, and have a great time! Make sure to bring your friends and family! If you have driven through Millbrook and passed 3630 Edgewood Road, you have no doubt noticed there has been a lot of activity. The property is located behind the QuickShop Convenience Store on Main Street downtown.
The building has seen a big remodel in recent months, and on Friday, Oct. 23 it will officially open as a new venue for Food Trucks! The building has had many occupants over the years to include a tax office, doctor’s office and barber shop among many. But next week it takes on new life with food, adult beverages, live music, a kid’s area and more.
Owners Derek and Cassie Pegg, of Millbrook, went before the Millbrook City Council many months ago to apply for a liquor license, and the EAN announced plans for the business that will offer rotating food trucks on a large adjacent lot, indoor seating, a bar and live music.
Then COVID-19 reared its ugly head. As with so many other projects that were in the works in our area, things shut down for a time, stalled and workers were hard to come by.
Fortunately, things are beginning to pick back up again, and the work at The Rex moved forward quickly.
According to the owners, the facility will be family friendly, and/or perfect for date nights. There will be inside and outside dining. A recent new patio has been constructed.
