Prattville Police were involved in a pursuit this morning that began at the Circle K on Memorial, and ended with the suspect in custody on the Eastern Bypass.
Markia Pettus, 26, of Montgomery allegedly failed to stop for officers, which initiated the pursuit.
According to Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson, the incident began around 8:45 a.m. when officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect reversed towards the officer and his unit, Thompson said.
A pursuit was initiated, and continued on I-65 South with the Alabama State Troopers assisting. The suspect was stopped around the Eastern Bypass area and taken into custody. No
injuries or vehicle damage has been reported at this time.
The suspect, Markia Pettus, is being held at the Autauga County Metro Jail with pending charges of numerous traffic violations and narcotics violations. This case is still under investigation, and more information will be provided when it is available.
A witness to the event this morning said she was at the Circle K and saw a Prattville officer pull up behind the suspect’s vehicle.
“(The suspect) came out of the store and completely disregarded the officer who was already out of the patrol car. Then (the suspect) got in the car and backed up, almost hit the patrol car, and took off,” she said.
