The City of Millbrook and the Parks and Recreation Department finished up their last concert for the 2nd Annual “Tunes on the Green” Summer Concert Series Thursday evening at Village Green Park with Millbrook native Ben Norris.

Norris was originally scheduled to share the stage with friend and also a rising country star, Trey Gothard. However, Gothard had to back out when he was feeling a bit under the weather.

That didn’t stop Norris from belting out some excellent country tunes, including some of his own, to the crowd who took cover from the summer heat in the shade of the trees at Village Green. Social distancing was in place thanks to the expansive park, as families grouped together on blankets and lawn chairs.

The City and the Parks and Recreation Department had discussed earlier this year canceling plans for the series, in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, with a beautiful venue available outside, they pushed forward, and the large crowds for each concert proved the citizens and area residents enjoyed their time.

Thank you to the organizers of this event, including Economic Development Director Ann Harper and Parks and Recreation Director Scott Davis for your amazing efforts. Thank you to the bands and artists that participated, the food vendors who served, but most importantly the citizens! Without your support, the series would not have been so very successful.
