The Elmore County Commission met Monday night for a work session, during which they honored two employees of Redland Middle School.

Coach Jayson Hall and Nurse Kristen Wright received special recognition as both jumped into action last month when 7th grader Colton Cramer had a medical emergency.

The Commission praised the lifesaving measures taken, which enabled Cramer to be taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Birmingham.

The Commission approved a resolution in their honor, praising them for conducting multiple rounds of CPR and using an automated external defibrillator to stabilize Colton’s breathing.

The staff at Children’s Hospital told the family that the actions of Jayson and Kristen played a pivotal role in saving Colton’s life.

Coach Hass has been an educator for 23 years, the past 20 in Elmore County schools. Nurse Kristen Wright has been a nurse for 15 years, serving four of those in Elmore County.

Since this terrifying incident last month, high praise and thanks have been abundant to Hall and Wright, as well as other employees and officials at the school that day. What was a terrifying emergency ended in survival, as so many stood up and played a role, using their training and calm demeanor to bring a successful outcome.
