Hunger Action Month is the Feeding America network’s annual nationwide campaign designed to spread awareness and engage the public in the movement to end hunger
MONTGOMERY, AL – September is Hunger Action Month, and the Heart of Alabama Food Bank will raise awareness and inspire action across Alabama. Feeding America is calling for one million actions nationwide to combat hunger, and here in Alabama, residents are encouraged to advocate, volunteer, or spread the word online. To draw attention to and highlight the need for a hunger-free community, the RSA Tower will be lit in orange on Hunger Action Day, September 10.
“We are both privileged and challenged each day to deliver on our core belief that there is enough fresh, nutritious food for everyone in Alabama,” said Michael Coleman, CEO of the Heart of Alabama Food Bank. “This Hunger Action Month, we urge everyone to address hunger in our communities. Take action by talking to neighbors, advocating to leaders, volunteering, and donating. Together, we can alleviate much of the suffering from food insecurity.”
In the Heart of Alabama Food Bank’s area alone, 256,000 individuals are affected by food insecurity.
By joining our fight against hunger, we can help ensure that every community has the resources needed to thrive. Visit www.hafb.org for ways to get involved.
