BY CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON
MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT
On November 30, 2022, Millbrook police responded to the 100 block of Pine Meadows Circle with regard to a Welfare Check. Upon arrival officers made contact with the resident, who had sustained numerous injuries. The victim advised officers that an individual, with whom she’d had a previous dating relationship, entered her home via a window while she was sleeping. Once inside the residence, the alleged offender both physically and sexually assaulted the victim.
During the assault, the victim was able to gain access to a phone, which allowed her to text a friend, who contacted law enforcement. The alleged offender fled the scene as law enforcement officers arrived. The suspect, later identified as Kendrick Rogers, a 22 -year-old Prattville resident, was located and taken into custody without incident a short distance from the victim’s residence.
Pursuant to investigation, Kendrick Rogers was placed under arrest, being charged with Domestic Violence 2nd Degree (Burglary), Domestic Violence Strangulation, Sexual Torture, Domestic Violence 3rd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Rogers was transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under no bond.
We are extremely limited with regard to the information that we can release in this case due to its sensitive nature. I will say that I’m extremely proud of the work done by our responding officers and the investigators that are investigating this case. Fortunately, the victim was able to send a text message to her friend, who in turn was able to alert law enforcement. Our patrolman’s prompt response, decisive actions once on scene, and the work done by our Criminal Investigative Unit allowed us to quickly apprehend the offender and affect an arrest.
The alleged offender, should he be found guilty of the crimes that he’s charged with in this incident, has no business on our streets. No one has a right to treat someone in the manner that the victim in this case was treated. We will do everything in our power to present a case to the District Attorney’s Office, which hopefully will enable them to prosecute this individual to the fullest extent of the law. This type of sexual violence has no place in our society.
