Millbrook’s Chamber of Commerce Director Brenda Dennis is still settling into her new position, and recently visited with the Elmore County Commission to thank them for their support in her short time on duty.
“I just really wanted to be here to formally introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Millbrook Chamber of commerce. I am at your disposal. I believe very strongly in the synergy between chambers and city and county government. When we work together we all succeed. I have already had the pleasure of working with the county a little bit and ECEDA especially,” she told Commissioners.
“We are enjoying our chamber and our city. Part of the reason I came was to work with Ann Harper at Economic Development (for Millbrook.) .We have already worked on some projects together. Things are going very well so I am very excited about that.”
Over the next couple of years the Commission and City of Millbrook will work together quite a lot concerning the creation of The Fields at 17 springs sports complex. Three other partners are in that venture, including ECEDA, the Grandview YMCA and the Elmore County School Board.
Commission Chairman Troy Stubbs said, “We appreciate your commitment to the community of Millbrook and Elmore County at large.”
Commissioner Bart Mercer said, “We have had an opportunity to speak and I can tell you what Brenda has on her mind for the way she wants to lead the Chamber is completely consistent with those things that are important to the County Commission.”
Commissioner Desirae Lewis said, “I have had the opportunity work with you. I appreciate those rewind Friday emails that you send out to let us know what is going on in Millbrook. I also know there is a big event coming up on the 21st.. Sending emails out in advance, we know what events are coming up.”
Commissioner Mack Daugherty said “It is so important that the different governmental entities work together. We don’t go out and try to dictate what the cities do. But we certainly in the past have worked in partnership with Millbrook and other municipalities and thank you for all you do.”
Commissioner Henry Hines said, “We appreciate you and look forward to working with you. It is exciting to see your energy and what you put into it. That means a lot.”
