According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, both people in a vehicle that fled from Elmore County Law Enforcement officers have died from injuries sustained in a crash Thursday in Millbrook.

ALEA first reported Sunday that Katie S. Foshee, 39, of Montgomery had died from her injuries. She was a passenger in the vehicle. Overnight the driver of that vehicle, identified as Donald C. Williams, 32, of Wetumpka also died. Both were in a 1989 Chevy Blazer.

The wreck occurred Thursday morning, but the chase initiated in Wetumpka when the vehicle failed to stop for Wetumpka officers after they received reports of reckless driving. The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office joined in the chase as it left the jurisdiction of Wetumpka. Also assisting in some capacity were Troopers with ALEA and the Millbrook Police Department.

The wreck occurred after the suspect vehicle took the Millbrook/Coosada exit off of I-65 in the area of Jackson Lake Road.

According to ALEA, the suspect vehicle was attempting to avoid spike strips put down in an effort to disable the suspect vehicle. When the driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid the strips, the vehicle went into a ditch, overcorrected and re-entered Hwy. 143 striking a 2020 International MV607 POD vehicle. The driver of the POD truck did not sustain serious injuries.

Foshee was transported to an area hospital immediately following the accident due to the severity of her injuries, but Williamson had to be extricated from the vehicle by first responders including the Millbrook Fire Department. He was then transported to an area hospital.

The roadway was shut down for several hours as workers cleared the scene.

According to ALEA, the crash remains under investigation and nothing further is immediately available.
