Central Alabama Community College will be offering three new classes for their Prattville location: Phlebotomy, Astronomy, and a one-week speech course (June 21-27).
With the addition of their new classes, CACC in Prattville will now offer 12 courses in total, a feat that Public Relations Specialist Brett Pritchard says is a testament to their campus.
“We have a great location in Prattville. It’s right by the interstate and there’s so many people that want to be a part of our institution,” Pritchard said. “We’re very, very excited about potential growth in Elmore and Autauga County, and adding classes like these helps to accommodate for more people who are interested in different fields.”
On June 13, 2018, the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees approved the relocation of CACC’s Millbrook instructional site from Stanhope Elmore High School, where it was housed since 2015, to the Pratt’s Mill Center in Prattville.
Three years later, CACC is looking to move again, but this time it will be to a permanent location in the Prattville/Millbrook area. Pritchard said that while the school is eager to establish themselves in a new location, no timetable for the change has been set.
“Everything is moving in the right direction. We want to have our own campus down there eventually so we can grow with the people of Autauga and Elmore Counties,” Pritchard said.
Pritchard explained that all options are on the table and that CACC could build their new location from the ground up, or use a pre-existing building.
It is no secret that both Autauga and Elmore officials would like the facility to locate in their respective county. Where the new facility will officially land as far as county lines is apparently still up in the air.
