There is an old saying that says, “Never play cards with anyone named Dallas.”
While we can’t verify his card-playing skills, what we do know is Lt. Dallas Dunlap saved untold numbers of lives during his service to the Millbrook Fire Department and the community.
Dunlap was recently honored at a retirement party, which celebrated his 21 years with the department. His official last day is April 30, and he will retire as the Lieutenant of EMS.
Prior to his service locally, Dunlap spent 25 years in the United States Air Force serving in the Security Forces. During that time, he received four meritorious service awards for action in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
He refers to his 20 years with the MFD as “the highlight of my life.”
He joined the Millbrook Fire Department in February of 2000, and was promoted to Lieutenant of EMS in 2008. He taught several classes at the fire department, area hospitals and various local nursing programs.
Aside from his skill in caring for humans, Dunlap is a huge animal lover and known in the community for his service and contributions.
His co-workers describe him as dedicated, passionate, and detail-oriented. We would simply add he is an amazing human, who loves his family and his community. (Editor’s Note: As someone who has a had a family member saved by Lt. Dunlap, I am forever grateful.)
Dunlap and his lovely wife Darlene have been married for over 21 years. They each have two children and together have nine grandchildren.
The EAN wishes Lt. Dunlap the absolute best in your retirement, with many more years to spend with your family. Thank you for all you have done. On behalf of the thousands of people that you have helped, we say with authority you have been a blessing and a true hero in the greatest sense. See more photos below.
