Prattville delivery driver accused of providing alcohol to juvenile before death

From: Prattville Police Department

Prattville, Alabama

On June 3, 2026, officers with the Prattville Police Department responded to a residence regarding an unresponsive juvenile who had been located in a swimming pool. Officers and emergency personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures. The juvenile was transported to a hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries on June 5, 2026.

An investigation conducted by the Prattville Police Department determined that the juvenile had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol prior to entering the swimming pool. Investigators developed information indicating that the alcohol had been delivered to the juvenile by Manoj Chitta, who is in the country on a student visa and working as a delivery driver for a food delivery service.

The investigation further revealed that Chitta failed to verify the juvenile’s age prior to delivering the alcoholic beverages. Investigators also discovered communications between Chitta and juvenile that occurred outside of the delivery application’s platform.

Based upon the evidence obtained during the investigation, Majoj Chitta was arrested and charged with Sale of Alcohol to a Minor and Criminally Negligent Homicide.

These charges are allegations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation remains ongoing.
