The U.S. Air Force Varsity Volleyball League (AFVVL) hosted its Southeast Region Championship, Jan. 17-18, 2026, at 17 Springs in Millbrook, drawing teams from 10 installations across the region.

Teams representing Barksdale, Eglin, Hurlburt, Little Rock, MacDill, Maxwell, Moody, Patrick, Robins, and Shaw Air Force bases were in attendance, competing in a weekend of fast-paced, high-level volleyball that highlighted both athletic talent and military pride. Athletes included a mix of active duty, guard, reserve, veterans, retirees, civilian employees, and dependents.

“Bringing teams from ten installations to Millbrook highlighted the region as a destination for elite athletic competition and military community engagement,” said Nichole LeFevre, AFVVL president, coach, and player. “It was an honor to bring the AFVVL Southeast Region Championship to our local community and to showcase the dedication and athleticism of our Air Force athletes.”

LeFevre said hosting a championship of this scale is a rare opportunity for the region, elevating the visibility of Millbrook and 17 Springs as an ideal destination for major events.

Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley agreed, saying that the championship reflects the city’s continued growth and its commitment to supporting military members and their families.

“Having athletes from across the Southeast compete here helps put Millbrook on the map,” said Kelley. “Events like this show that our city is proud of its strong military ties and ready to host competitions that bring energy, excitement, and visitors to our community.”
