The Prattville Pops and Community Chorus put on a beautiful Christmas Concert recently, showing the awesome talent of both groups.

Earlier this month, the Doster Center was filled with people and Christmas music, as part of the two organizations’ annual free event for the community.

The performances included old favorites, such as Joy to the World, Santa Baby, Oh Holy Night, and Away in the Manger. But there were also the likes of Deck the Halls with Chips and Salsa and On with the Snow!

The audience joined in for performances of Oh Christmas Tree and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

The Prattville Pops Community Band

This group formed in 2002 under the direction of Ronnie Mallory. Although the band started small, with only 15 members, it has grown over the past 21 years to 35 active members with all wind and percussion instruments represented.

The Pops is sponsored by the City of Prattville and is a non-audition band open to all adults. Rehearsals are held at the Central Alabama Community College in Prattville on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Many of the members who fill the ranks are from Autauga and Elmore counties. The group is led by Director Larry Bills.

The Prattville Community Chorus

This group was established in 1972 as an organization to provide cultural opportunities for its adult volunteer members and this region by providing choral programs for the enriching benefit of the public.

The Chorus sings a variety of music from jazz to classical and from sacred to contemporary. They perform at numerous City of Prattville events as well as organizational and civic events. It is a non-denominational organization and auditions are not required.

The Prattville Pops and Community Chorus offered special thanks to Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr., the Prattville City Council, the Prattville Creative and Performing Arts Council and Central Alabama Community College. The group is led by Director Jeremy Pyles.
