MILLBROOK – While Saturday started wet and gray, by the time the Millbrook Christmas Parade began things were looking up.

For Special Events and Cultural Arts Director Danae Morgan, it was the answer to prayer.

Morgan was hired by the city last year to fill a very busy and difficult role but pulled off this year’s event in an amazing and creative way. It was not without a lot of problem-solving and hard work.

If you have not visited Village Green Park with the Candyland theme, please do so before the first of the year. It is especially beautiful at night.

Saturday, the park began filling with people as vendors shared their wares. Entertainment filled the stage with music, dance and karate. Food vendors did a healthy business, with a big variety to choose from.

Santa and Mrs. Claus posed for photos, thanks to Valley Bank and Chrietzburg Photography.

At 2 p.m. the parade began its long path from Smokehouse BBQ to just past Village Green Park along Main Street. There were not a lot of gaps along the way, as the crowd exploded as it was clear the rain had left the area.

For Morgan, this was her first solo journey as coordinator of the festivities. For Millbrook Police Lt. Matt Henson, this was (he says) his last official time as a police officer working the parade. He will be retiring soon, but will stay on part-time as a school resource officer. Henson was in charge of driving Morgan around in a golf cart, so she could keep everything rolling smoothly and check on vendors.

Take a look at over 100 photos in the gallery. We will have even more bonus photos from area parades to share soon as well. Tag the photos, share them, and enjoy them. Merry Christmas to all! Everyone is a rock star on parade day.

Thank you to the Spirit of Christmas Committee, City of Millbrook staff and departments for another amazing Christmas event in Millbrook.

Millbrook’s Special Events Director Danae Morgan and Lt. Matt Henson kept everyone safe and things under control for the Millbrook Christmas Festival and Parade Saturday.
