ALEA SBI Launches Homicide Investigation in Dallas County

DALLAS COUNTY – On Wednesday, Nov. 22, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched a homicide investigation at the request of the Selma Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the 3400 Block of Water Ave. in Selma.
Jamyron Hope, 30, of Selma, an employee of the Selma Police Department, was identified as the deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates the death is a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by suspect Cordel Tyus, 22, of Selma. Tyus is charged with one count of Capital Murder and is currently being detained at the Dallas County Jail.
Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office.
