MONTGOMERY POST – At approximately 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, a pursuit occurred involving Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division. An ALEA Trooper attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata for a speeding violation on Interstate 85 near the 5 mile marker in Montgomery County. The driver of the Sonata failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued into and through the city of Montgomery. Eventually, ALEA Troopers were able to get the subject stopped near the intersection of Forest and Park Avenues.
The driver was identified as Desanco N. Smith, 26, of Montgomery. Smith was arrested and charged with a series of traffic violations, Attempting to Elude along with a felony warrant. Nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.
