On Saturday, the Alabama Nature Center along with Realty Connection partnered together to host their annual FREE Creatures of the Night and 8th annual Halloween carnival. Over 500 guests attended this fun, family event.
This event was all about creatures found in Alabama that come out at night!
There were plenty of nocturnal animals on display, presentations from the Montgomery Zoo, games, food, a huge inflatable slide, an evening hike, and movie under the stars.
A reptile station was set up under the pavilion. A nocturnal animal presentation that was presented by the staff of the Montgomery Zoo and an ooey, gooey, touch table, a balloon man along with face painting, a Halloween scavenger hunt, blow up slide, sponsor booth trick or treat with games were just the many activities families were able to experience.
The Millbrook Fire Department was there for children to explore their fire truck. An evening hike was set up in groups for families to walk along different trails while using flashlights and glow sticks. A family, friendly movie was presented on a projector screen outside the pavilion at the end of event. Many families took advantage of the nice weather and sat on the ground with their blankets or others watched it in their comfortable chairs.
Hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, and Halloween treats were provided to all the guests.
There were many delicious homemade food items that included, Halloween shaped peanut butter sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, ghost shaped cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, glazed donuts that had vampire teeth in the middle, Halloween trail mixed, jello cups, mummy shaped rice krispy treats, a mummy shaped red velvet cake, and a scrumptious tombstone cake.
“Realty Connection’s 8th Annual Halloween Carnival was a whole lot of fun again this year,” said Robin Davies, broker/owner of Realty Connection.
She continued, “Partnering to promote Lanark in Millbrook has been an ongoing event for us and this year was no disappointment! We had our sponsors – which we could not have this event without – all at tables with games and prizes for the kids. We also had a balloon twister and face painter, a huge blow-up slide, the Millbrook Fire Department with Fire Truck, cotton candy, popcorn, hotdogs and tons of homemade treats! This event is our way of not only showcasing Lanark to those who have never been there but giving us the opportunity to say thank you to our community for their support over the years. We host this event with all of the activities, games, prizes and food all free to the public to show our appreciation and do our part for our community. Make sure to be on the lookout for our Easter Eggstravaganza in 2024!”
Creatures of the Night at the Alabama Nature Center has been going on for over 10 years in Millbrook.
“We had an excellent turnout for our annual Creatures of the Night and Halloween Festival with around 480 guests,” said Matt Vines, Aquatic Education Resource Assistant for ANC.
He continued, “The purpose of this event is not only to highlight various nocturnal animals that live in Alabama but to provide a fun opportunity for families to enjoy an evening outdoors. Special thank you to Realty Connection, the Montgomery Zoo, our event sponsors as well as all of our volunteers and staff that helped make this event special. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!”
