A few weeks ago, the Prattville Christian Academy Volleyball team won the regular season championship in Class 3A Area 6. But on Thursday night, the Panthers won the all-important
Area tournament, clinching a spot in the Class 3A South Regionals next week at the Montgomery Multiplex, as they seek to defend their 2022 Class 3A championship.
In the opening match of the area tournament, the Panthers defeated Dadeville by scores of 25- 1, 25-10, and 25-7. Baylee Rogers recorded 22 aces, which is 3 rd all-time for most aces in a match, according to the Alabama High School Association record books.
In the area championship match against Alabama Christian Academy, the Panthers won by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-16.
With the two wins, the Panthers’ record improves to 30-18.
Rogers was named to the Class 3A Area 6 All-Tournament Team along with Kyra Sims. Emma
Cate Carter was named Area Tournament MVP.
For the tournament, Rogers had 23 aces, 35 assists, 1 kill, and 9 digs.Emma Cate Carter had 17 kills, 1 ace, 9 digs, and 1 assist.
Kyra Sims had 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 1 dig.
Leah Cate Wilson had 9 kills and 1 block.
Brylee Byrd had 3 aces, 1 assist, and 9 digs.
Baileigh Seale had 1 kill, 17 digs, 2 aces, and 3 assists.
Natalee Wheeler had 1 ace, 12 digs, and 3 assists.
Morgan Fowler had 3 aces, 6 digs, and 3 assists.
Jenna McClendon had 4 kills and 4 blocks.
Paysley Bayer had 4 kills, 1 block, and 1 dig.
Dakotah Zimbelman had 2 kills, 1 ace, and 1 dig.
Olivia Rossi had 5 kills and 1 ace.
Peyton Woodfin had 1 kill.
Maren Diefenderfer had 1 ace.
The Panthers advance to the 2023 South 3A Volleyball Regional held at the Montgomery Multiplex on Wednesday, October 25, and Thursday, October 26. The Panthers opening contest in the South Regionals will be on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. against Randolph County out of Wedowee.
