With a successful dress rehearsal, the curtain will soon rise on “Willy Wonka” thanks to a lot of community support and hard work from the talented actors and crew with the Millbrook Community Theatre.

Opening night is set for Thursday for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka show that features a three-week run. The show will be held at the Millbrook Theater located at 5720 Main Street (the old Robinson Springs School.) There are a total of 63 cast members. Director is Michael Proper; Assistant Director is Tammy Lee; and Stage Manager is Steve Phillips. Tickets can be purchased online for $15 each.

From the Millbrook Theatre Website:

The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder and new songs by Leslie Bricusse (Jekyll & Hyde, Doctor Dolittle) and Anthony Newley, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.

“Since day one of the audition process back in February, I’ve carried the message of ‘Community,’” said Director Michael Proper. He continued, “With funding only coming from a few small sponsors, the revenue collected from tickets, concessions, The Millbrook Community Players needed a fantastic show to set them up for success. We are trying to achieve it with Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. I have seen a tremendous amount of support from the local community. Small businesses from all over the River Region have stepped up with either monetary support, items, or in-kind services. Parents and family members have given countless hours of their time, helping with cleaning, set building and props. All of this community support has made this peek into the world of ‘Pure Imagination’ a reality. Humbled, is an understatement. I am overjoyed and proud to be able to present such a fabulous show to our community.”

The following dates have a 7:30 p.m. start – July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29.
