Millbrook Police Spotlight: Corporal Kristen White

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

Last week Corporal Kristen White attended her annual continuing education training conference, which is held in Orange Beach each year and is sponsored by the Alabama Association of School Resource Officers. During this week of training Corporal White and her fellow school resource officers from across the state received valuable training on a broad range of topics that they may encounter, while making sure that our students, administrators and faculty at their respective schools have a safe learning environment while on school campuses.

Corporal White was recognized by the Alabama Association of School Resource Officers for her exceptional service to her schools and the community that she serves, as she received the association’s Above the Call of Duty award.

Corporal White has been with the Millbrook Police Department since August of 2018, having served with the Montgomery Police Department prior to coming to Millbrook.

Before becoming the department’s School Resource Officer a little over two years ago, Corporal White served in the department’s Patrol Division. She was promoted to the rank of Corporal last year. Corporal White is assigned to cover both the Millbrook Middle/Jr. High School and Stanhope Elmore High Schoosl during the school year. She provides security, handles any incidents/offenses that occur on school campuses, acts as a liaison between the school’s administrators and the police department. She also assists in providing security at school related functions, all while building relationships and mentoring students that she interacts with daily while serving in the schools.

I don’t think we could have made a better decision than when we decided to assign Corporal White to become our department’s School Resource Officer. She loves young people, takes her job seriously and I have absolutely zero doubt that she has the best interest of our students, faculty and administrators when she’s on duty. Corporal White understands that there’s more to being a School Resource Officer than just being at the school on a daily basis. She interacts with our young people, as well as the faculty and administrators daily, and she does it with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She’s committed to ensuring that our students have a positive, secure and safe learning environment while on campus.

Corporal White also is instrumental in helping with the Millbrook Police Department’s community policing projects such as our Junior Police Academy, where she serves as an instructor, our Cops & Kids Day and Operation Blue Santa. I’m proud of her and the job that she does for our department and the citizens that we serve. She’s very deserving of this recognition.
