Millbrook Fire Department requested mutual aid Sunday from Coosada and Elmore fire departments after a fully-involved house fire in the Crossgates Subdivision off Hwy. 14. The call came in around 6:46 a.m. this morning. A home was fully involved at 138 Lake Bend Drive. The family was not home at the time, and there were no reported injuries. The home sustained major damage.
According to Millbrook Fire Marshal Doyle Campbell, his investigation shows the fire did not begin as a lightning strike, as earlier reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but it is suspicious, he said. No further details are available at this time, as it remains an active investigation.
