Narcotics Search reportedly ‘cut short’ at Prattville High today; Board officials Investigating

BY SARAH STEPHENS

ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

A search of Prattville High School with officers and narcotics K9’s today found a small amount of suspected drugs. We confirmed that no guns were found on campus by officers, who admitted their search was cut short by a school administrator.

Our trusted sources tell the EAN that a school administrator reportedly shut the search down, not allowing the officers into all areas. That followed with officers being told the search was over when a drug dog hit on a vehicle in the parking lot. Officers were told they would not be allowed to search the vehicle.

Officers gathered their equipment and left the school grounds, we are told.

We reached out to Autauga County School Board members and Supt. 0f Education Tim Tidmore.

Tidmore said the matter is being investigated, but he does not have the whole story at this time. He said he could not confirm the information we have gathered from multiple sources. He has asked that we contact him on Monday.

Board member Kim Crockett also responded, saying she is gathering information at this time to find out exactly what happened and also asked we get back in touch Monday.

The School Board was originally scheduled to have a work session meeting today, which had been advertised. An executive session was also scheduled. However, both meetings were canceled as two board members could not attend.

We will continue to reach out, and try to understand reasoning behind the search reportedly being limited by a school administrator.
