Many in Millbrook and surrounding areas are familiar with Vicki’s Amish Traditions, but did you know that Vicki has moved her store to a new location with more space and visibility? The new location is at 2865 HWY 14 in Millbrook, the former location of Troy Motor Group.

According to Vicky Stroup, owner of Vicki’s Amish Traditions, the move was needed because the old location just wasn’t large enough to accommodate the large selection of custom furniture, home décor, specialty items and so much more.

“We loved where we were, we love the people we rented from, it was a great location for us for two and a half years but we’re growing, which is a good thing,” Stroup said. “The spot where we located now is perfect. We had to have more space and of course it’s on (highway) 14, so we’re getting a lot more exposure.”

The new location is in an area that is experiencing rapid growth, and with greater visibility, Vicki’s has already seen an uptick in store traffic.

“The new 17 Springs is coming in. We’re not very far from there. I think it’s just going to be a good move for us and we have seen a lot of new customers coming in as well as our existing customers, but we’ve had a lot of new people that we’ve not had before. We’ve definitely seen an increase in business and people stopping by.”

According to Stroup, it is the smalltown atmosphere that is most appealing about owning a business in Millbrook.

“We live in a very close knit, supportive community,” she said. “We had an event back in November where several of our Amish builders actually came down from Indiana to do a Meet the Maker event, and you know, the Amish communities are very tight knit. They were just very impressed at the amount of support that we received that day.”

While the business may look like a furniture store from the outside, it offers that and much, much, more.

“We offer Amish games, Amish rugs, Amish rolling pins, Amish jams and soaps, Amish leather goods like belts and purses, plus, we have some local makers that makes candles for us. We offer candle warmers. We try to do Amish first, American made second. We try to support some of our local vendors. So, we just really have a sprinkling of everything, but our most popular items are furniture.”

Another interesting fact about Vicki’s Amish Tradition is the outdoor furniture is sourced from old milk jugs.

“The Amish buy the lumber that has already been recycled,” Stroup said. “It’s kind of like TREX. It’s a composite material. There is a company called Tangent that does the recycling. It is molded into lumber just like you would go to Lowe’s and buy lumber and then they take that and make furniture out of it. So, the nice thing about it is it has a lifetime warranty not to chip, crack or peel, it’s UV protected,” Stroup said.

When someone orders a piece of furniture from Vicki, they can rest assured that their choice is a one-of-a-kind piece that is uniquely crafted to suit the individual style.

“At the end of the day, it’s made from wood, and it’s made to your specifications,” Stroup said. “And when you get that piece, literally, no one is going to have a piece exactly like it. Really neat, and it’s beautiful and quality is worthwhile.”

Vicki’s Amish Traditions is open Wednesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The business also offers after hour appointments. For more information, call 334-399-5563.
