FROM THE ELMORE COUNTY COMMISSION
Beginning January 26, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Central Alabama Redevelopment Alliance (CARA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center and Business Recovery Center in the historic downtown courthouse located at 100 E. Commerce Street, Wetumpka, AL for citizens affected by the severe weather on January 12, 2023. These offices will be open on January 26th from 1:00PM to 6:00PM and thereafter from 8:00AM to 6:00PM everyday of the week until further notice.
The Disaster Recovery Center will help individuals and households apply for FEMA Individual Assistance, which may include temporary housing assistance, basic home repairs and certain other uninsured disaster-related needs. Survivors can also apply for disaster assistance at disasterassistance.gov, by using the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 800-621-3362. The helpline is open, and help is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time in most languages. If you use a relay service such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA the number for that service.
CARA is assisting the Small Business Administration with opening Business Recovery Centers in the counties affected by the storm. Alongside the business recovery centers, CARA is utilizing resources to help with the long-term recovery by creating a Small Business Resiliency Program. The Small Business Resiliency program will include business improvement teams (case managers, technical assistance, and proven mentors), business modules (virtual workshops on how to improve your small business), and co-working space for small business owners.
