On October 28th, the Autauga Prattville Public Library hosted a Scooby Doo themed Fall Festival, called “Far Out- Scooby Doo.” Over 400 people, adults and children, attended this very unique and fun Fall Festival.

The library is located at 254 Doster Street, in Prattville, Alabama. This was their first fall festival since COVID happened back in 2019. Kaitlin Wilson, who is the Adult Program Coordinator, and Baylee Smith, who is the Children’s and Youth Services director, were the ones who organized the event with the help of staff, sponsors and many volunteers.

Families enjoyed the nice weather with outdoor games, taking pictures with Scooby Doo, solving Scooby Doo riddles, winning prizes, and watching a Scooby Doo movie behind the library. Families could also go on a Not-So-Haunted trail located in front of the library.

Children and adults were also able to paint a monster souvenir.  They could take home their souvenir or enter their creation into a competition where the most votes won a prize. The winner of the most votes for children ages (0-10) won a face painting kit. Teens ages (11-17) were eligible to win a LED neon light. Adults ages (18+) were eligible to win a pumpkin throw pillow.

One family spoke to EAN about how much fun they had at the fall festival.

“We really love our library friends. We enjoy visiting the Prattville library and we come all the time,” said members of the Meyrahn Family. “This is our first time at their Fall Festival and we all throughly enjoyed it. The most exciting thing about the event was when we all had a chance to paint a monster.”

The Public Works Department with the City of Prattville was one of the new vendors that sponsored the event this year.

“We had a great turnout tonight. The interactions were so fun. Costumes were lovely and we are looking forward to coming back next year,” said members of the Public Works Department.

Kaitlin Wilson and Baylee Smith spoke to EAN about the festival. “Both of us really love the Halloween season, so we were both excited to host a fall festival. We put a lot of heart and months of planning into this and seeing the community enjoying this makes us happy. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event,” said Smith.

“We also would like to thank our sponsors, the staff, and everyone who took part in helping us make this event truly successful,” said Wilson.
